Fees & Insurance
All students enrolled in five or more credit hours pay a health fee, which covers general office visits for that semester. Students are then responsible for lab fees, medication, x-rays, and some office services. Your health fee helps keep these charges at a reduced rate. Partners and spouses of students, and students enrolled in less than five credit hours, are also eligible for service by paying the health fee.
If you have private health insurance, we will submit charges to your insurance company first; your insurance information must be on file for this to happen. TSHC deals with many insurance companies and cannot tell you over the phone which ones will take our services; please check with your insurance provider ahead of time to ensure they will cover TSHC charges. To ensure that your health insurance is on file, please fill out and return the TSHC Student Health Insurance Information Form, linked below.
If you do not have private health insurance and you would like to obtain it, you may contact the Student and Scholars Health Insurance Program (SSHIP). This program is separate from the health fee. For more information on the SSHIP program, you may contact their office at 515-294-2394, or follow the link below.
If you do not have private health insurance and choose not to obtain any, you are responsible for all fees incurred beyond what the health fee covers.
